Teejay created history achieving the feat of being the First Sri Lankan corporate entity to publish a Green House Gas (GHG) emission report compliant with ISO 14064-1 standard for the period 1st April 2011 to 31st March 2012 which was certified by the British Standards Institute (BSI). This is the germination of one of the seeds planted under the sustainability initiatives of the organization a few years ago which was achieved through rigorous efforts of the team.

Teejay considers this to be a landmark event in both Sri Lanka's industrial landscape as well as the Export Oriented Industrial Sector. This is the first time abusiness entity in Sri Lanka has produced a report on their Greenhouse Gas emissions which has been verified and pronounced to be in line with ISO 14064-1, the specific international standard formulated for this purpose. By embarking on this journey, Teejay has taken the first step in enabling Sri Lankan business entities to be in a position to pronounce its carbon footprint in the global landscape.

The company believes that this report would enableit to identify specific improvements it could make in respect of greenhouse gas emissions and these improvements, when implemented, will not only reduce its dependency on fossil fuels, but also reduce costs and provide the entity a defense against its vulnerability to oil price hikes in the future. The company can be proud today because it knowsits contribution towards climate change and will be consciously working to reduce that burden on the environment in the future in order to be in aligning with its pledge of making a better world for tomorrow.

In view of this Teejay organized a press conference with the motive to create awareness in the public and especially to educate its supply chain , customers and fellow corporate citizens. This was held on 30th of January 2013 at TJL auditorium. A large number of personals were gathered to grace the event.
